My latest Powder mani uses this years pantone, Rose Quartz with classic white, presenting a dual mani where the two shades start from either side and join in the middle.
The trend from a two-tone, dual accent nail or featured on every digit is big news for spring 2016 especially in romantic pastel tones, and yet the two hues worn in this way, redefine the classic French manicure and offer up an edgy yet playful way to wear pastels.
Carry the edgy pastel look into your outfit by teaming pastels with denim, stripes or neutrals – such as grey, white and nude. Combine with nude or pastel orange stack heels and a patterned or metallic giant clutch bag.
Get the Look:
- Orange Stack Heel, £34 TK Maxx
- BHS stacked heels, from a selection
- Oliver Bonas Buddy Bunny Tee, £19.50
- Very.co.uk Rose gold metallic clutch bag, £18
Midnight / inky / deep / goth-glam-punk blue – call it what you want but one thing is for sure, it ‘s a colour that is at the top of the fashion and beauty pile when it comes to shades to be seen in.
Gracing the front cover of the latest Glamour magazine (December 2015), on the talons of Tanya Burr and as seen everywhere from on celebrities to the High Street, this deep shade of blue is hot.
It would be rude not to opt for the same blue on my own talons for my latest Powder mani then wouldn’t it?
The team used ‘Up All Night’ Gelaze finish and I can’t get enough. It goes with everything and makes me feel glamorous even if I have been Up All Night (but sadly not drinking cocktails, but instead due to my toddler)!

Fashion Blogger, Chiara Ferragni looks fabulous in this bejeweled embellishment tunic dress and slouchy boots while Karlie Kloss takes the shade casual with a classic denim, jumper, coat and matching accessories combination.

I also have my eye on these Sam Edelman Dea Deep Blue Heeled Court Shoes, £145 that will go perfectly with anything from your skinny jeans to your Christmas party dress. A smart investment really 🙂
Speaking of parties, razzle dazzle them in these inky blue dresses and enjoy.

Debenhams Debut maxi sparkling blue dress, £135
Every spring we’re inundated with pretty pastels as baby blue, powder pink and delicate nudes take centre stage in our wardrobes and makeup palettes. But what if you want more ‘oomph’? If you prefer deeper shades and don’t want to stop wearing them for spring / summer, then this seasons Bordeaux shades like the 2015 pantone: marsala are for you.
Celebrities such as Miranda Kerr, Emma Stone and Blake Lively have all been spotted wearing marsala tones, boldly contrasting with the red carpet yet smouldering in this deeply vibrant shade.
My latest manicure uses a marsala tone with metallic stripes on my ring fingers for an up-to-date look and more wearable take on the catwalk trends of the year. A berry-meets-plum-meets-burgundy hue that changes with the light, it looks striking against pale skin tones while enhancing darker or tanned skin. Because of the deeper, more elegant tone to it – you can wear marsala day or night. I’m totally addicted.
I love this simple TOPSHOP maxi dress teamed with a leather fringed bag and gladiator sandals. Who says springtime fashion and beauty has to be light and fluffy? Dare to be different.
This season, berry is the colour to covet and I adore it on nails and lips. Most skin tones can carry this shade off since it looks sexy on darker skin tones and dramatic against pale skin – both being great effects in my opinion. I chose a berry shade for my latest manicure at Powder in Shellac for the ultimate glossy, long-lasting appeal with a subtle bronze gem on my ring finger to give a nod to the pending festivities. Well, soon it will be all about the sparkle!
If you want the same long-lasting finish on your lips, choose MAC Lipstick in Yield To Love. Dense, bold but with a matte finish, it’s suitable for everyday wear. Keep the rest of your makeup neutral with unkempt hair for a truly up-to-date look.
Last Sunday the 24th November saw Powder Beauty Boutique as its never been before! A collection of wonderful local designers & makers filled the rooms across 3 floors selling their lovely creations at our Christmas Market.
Visitors were treated to cranberry and cava fizz, homemade cakes, marshmallows and more as they explored all our boutique had to offer. We had great comments about how beautiful the rooms are, and what a lovely idea the market was.
Visitors were also treated to discounted nails on the day, and the nails were certainly popular, with all the spaces on the day booked up!
Here are some photos from the day, including our stall holders who are well worth checking out! They all sell their creations at other fairs locally and their makes are perfect unique christmas gifts. Click on any of the images below to find out more. Many thanks to Vintage Brighton who some of the image credits go to.
Thank you to all those who visited and took part- we hope you enjoyed your day!
