Powder Beauty Boutique recently celebrated 10 years in business with a spangly ‘do – 10 years! That’s not an easy milestone to reach and so they celebrated by hosting an event in the salon featuring inspiring guest speakers, super cool brands and discounted beauty treatments.
A buzzing crowd were treated to bewitching gems by Cheap Frills, sexy illustrations and fabulous designer wares by Lois Orchard, Age of Reason and Smoke+Mirrors Collective. We enjoyed talks on starting your own business, empowerment, thinking positively and even how to flex your bits with kegel exercises – all by the likes of Supercharged, Grl Pwr Gang and others. I personally walked out of there feeling invigorated, enlightened and um, tightened. Ha!
For me, it was also a night of bringing women together, celebrating who and how we are and washing it all down with gin. Obvs. Some of my other key favourites were amongst the crowd, including The Wee Department Store, Collective Boutique and The Bonnie Mob. What a bevy of local talent and so wonderful to see a host of female business owners supporting another; Powder’s very own Boss, Rachel. As well as the inspo and electric atmosphere, cakes and treatments starting at just £10, all raised money for NSPCC*.
Earlier that day, I popped into try Powder’s new chrome effect manicure, a sparkling metallic powder that is stroked on and set over usual or gel polish, your choice. The colour of the polish painted on underneath the chrome determines the shade of the finished result. I’m a bit rose gold mag right now so I opted for a coral-red gel for the perfect finished look. A grey polish would create a silver tone and a purple hue would give an almost holographic look.

I could have kissed my nails I loved them that much. But I didn’t ‘cos that would be weird. The thing is, I have now started a rose gold revolution and the amount of people that have told me on Instagram that they’ve been into the salon to have the same look, is impressive. Just take local blogger, Lyndsay who had the same effect and is totally rocking rose gold.

I’m going to have it done again for Christmas and matching toes too. Will you be trying it?
Thanks to everyone who featured in the event and to everyone who attended. Here’s to another 10 successful years of glitter, nail polish and party lashes.
