Powder Beauty introduces IBX Nail Strengthening System!
IBX Manicure – £28
Book a course of 6 for best results – £148 (saving £20!)
IBX Gel Manicure – £33
How it works:
IBX is the first of its kind, this penetrative toughening system works inside the nail instead of sitting on top like traditional nail services, it builds up length and durability repairing weak and damaged nails. Benefits include a reduce in “white spots” on the surface of the nail, splits and peeling as well as acting like “double-sided sticky tape” to seal damaged areas together. Come and get IBX to repair your natural nails today or add a gel mani for extra strength and choose from our selection of beautiful colours! For best results and full repair book our course of 6 treatments and receive £20 off!
This season, berry is the colour to covet and I adore it on nails and lips. Most skin tones can carry this shade off since it looks sexy on darker skin tones and dramatic against pale skin – both being great effects in my opinion. I chose a berry shade for my latest manicure at Powder in Shellac for the ultimate glossy, long-lasting appeal with a subtle bronze gem on my ring finger to give a nod to the pending festivities. Well, soon it will be all about the sparkle!
If you want the same long-lasting finish on your lips, choose MAC Lipstick in Yield To Love. Dense, bold but with a matte finish, it’s suitable for everyday wear. Keep the rest of your makeup neutral with unkempt hair for a truly up-to-date look.
We love inspiring you and coming up with new and exciting ideas for nail art and nail design and recently came across Julep and their spooktacular Halloween nail art story. You’ll find a step-by-step onward to help you create the look at home, complete with all the products you need or if you love the look but need a pro to recreate it for you – come in and see us. Although we don’t yet stock Julep, you can find the best sellers at julep.com and in occasional pop-up shops so who knows – we may well have them up for grabs soon.
Red is one of the key colours for autumn / winter 2014 but it’s a loud colour to wear and not everyone feels confident doing so. I have to say that it is one of my most favourite colours of all time and when I wear it, I feel confident so give it a go yourself. You don’t have to go head-to-toe rouge so how about introducing it into your outfit with accessories or a glam manicure?
My latest creation at Powder Beauty Boutique takes the bold red of Vinylux in Decadence but uses a matte topcoat (OPI Matte Top Coat), to dress down the look and make it more wearable for every day. Glossy red talons are very glamorous but the cool matte finish just makes it more casual and current, I love it.
To match your mani, treat yourself to this cute ‘In case of emergency’ cosmetics bag, £9 from www.homecandy.com. Slogan bags are a great statement this season and you can use this as a clutch bag. Or team these M&S Brogue Chelsea Boots, £30 with skinny jeans and a chunky knit for an on-trend colour pop.
With Halloween just around the corner, you might want to go with vampy red for that or try Powder’s super cool Halloween nail art.
Get freaky with a Frankenstein accent nail, vamp it up with bloody tips, creepy fangs or ghoulish skulls or go all out and have a different design on every nail. If there’s one time of year dressing up and going all out-crazy is acceptable, it’s Halloween so have fun!
Nail art starts at £12. Next week check out our Halloween Tutorial by http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html
Is it wrong of me to look forward to colder weather just so that I can wear gorgeous winter coats and cosy jumpers? While the spring summer 2015 trends at London Fashion Week recently showed what we’ll be wearing next season, I’m getting pretty excited about the new clothing creeping in for winter.
A luxurious winter coat is a key autumn/ winter staple that you shouldn’t be afraid to invest in. Get it right and it can last you years but since there are so many styles to choose from, I’m taking inspiration from my latest nail art creation by Powder Beauty Boutique.
Championing two fashionable shades with a gunmetal grey base topped with a graduation of mink glitter, this look adds a touch of festivity and glamour while still being elegant enough for every day.
I normally opt for gels because I’m always using my hands as a busy mum and writer, meaning normal nail polish doesn’t even last a day however, I used CND VINYLUX® for the first time. This is a breakthrough nail polish where exposure to natural light activates the patent-pending ProLight Technology™ to deliver week-long wear. That’s rich colour with no chips or peeling and more durable nails overall for a whole week.
I was skeptical at first but I needn’t have been since they still look fabulous a week later. I have the tiniest of chips on one nail but that’s after a week and much use / clumsiness!
To match my talons to my coattails, naturally, I have my eye on this super luxe New Look Grey faux fur collarless coat £64.99 and this Wallis Gold/Brown Faux Fur Coat. Both are versatile enough to take me from day to night.
Military trench coats nip you in at the waist and give an overall structured and tailored look making them ideal for the office and this JD Williams Military Coat, £90 highlights my mani perfectly.
For an everyday coat, I’m coveting this stunning House of Fraser Grey Textured Coat, £150. Well, if you can’t decide on just one…
So when you’re out shopping for your new coat(s), pop into Powder Beauty Boutique and get a new mani to match.
I love to experiment with makeup and nail art gives you free reign to do so. My latest creation by Powder Beauty Boutique is this pastel moon mani. We might not always know it with the weather but summer is still here and pastels are huge on the style front. The good news is delicate colours such as this combination of lilac-grey and rose pink will be carrying forward into autumn-winter too – from both a beauty and fashion perspective.
This Metallic Tunic, £45 at Oliver Bonas is a versatile top buy for autumn-winter. Wear alone in the late summer to show off the last of your tan then team with either opaque tights, wide legged trousers or rider boots for this seasons 60s vibe as the months grow cooler.
Throw on this gorgeous Cashmere Blend Coat Pink, £120 at M&S and you’ll be sporting two of the hottest colours to match your mani.
Hi everyone, I’m Bethanie – Mum, writer and wine lover. I’ve been writing about fashion and beauty for 11 years now and have in that time, grown a passion for products and trends alongside boundless knowledge.
I recently visited Powder Beauty Boutique for a trend-lead gel manicure and simply had to share it with you for a little beauty inspiration.
Hailing key autumn-winter 2014/15 fashion looks, I opted for pastel pink and gunmetal grey nail art in a geometric pattern. I think the colours stand out so well next to each other and my talons are attracting much attention – always a good thing in my book.
In contrast to Fall’s bold primary colours, burnt oranges and strong reds, pastels will become a tran-seasonal trend from the summer months with Ralph Lauren, and Christopher Kane having lead the way on the catwalks. Pastel pink in particular will give a feminine and glamorous look but, as an overriding style for next season, pretty pinks will be punked up a little for a ‘polished but edgy’ finish.
Grey, as shown by Michael Kors, will be one of the key shades to wear and looks fabulous combined with pastels. Look out for gunmetal grey as shown here for the perfect balance of glamorous and gritty.
So if you want to stay ahead of the fash pack and sport next seasons styles, head down to Powder Beauty Boutique.
